The two sides had a negotiation about jointly founding the Yangtze River International Public Fund, assisting Sino-British economic and cultural exchanges and  comprehensive strategic cooperation, and achieved a preliminary consensus.

From 1992 to 1994, the Chopsticks Club Co-CEO Theresa Booth once taught English at the Hubei Jingzhou Teachers College (now called Yangtze River University). Speaking of chopsticks, she humorously explained that the club’s name originated from Chinese chopsticks which need two parts to work together to clamp food. She hoped that the two parts of chopsticks not only represent the UK and China, but also the Chopsticks Club and YRIC, and the cooperation of two sides could help capture more business opportunities.
