On September 26, 2016, local time, YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang Peking University Humanities Library Fund Launching Ceremony was held in the Stanford University. YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang, China Consul General in San Francisco Mr. Luo Linquan and Peking University President Mr. Lin Jianhua attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

Mr. Lin Jianhua introduced that since its establishment in 1898, Peking University has been actively promoting the development of higher education, academic research and social services, and made irreplaceable contributions for China and the international community. At the same time, Peking University has been committed to playing its traditional humanities advantages to enhance the influence of Chinese culture in the world.

Mr. Lin Jianhua pointed out that China is now in the transition period which means there are many problems to be solved. Therefore, it is particularly important to set up the Florence Fang Peking University Humanities Library Fund which is focused on promoting the construction of humanity science. He said that since 2008, YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang has continued to provide strong support to assist Peking University to become one of the world's first-class universities and to promote the process of internationalization,etc. The new Florence Fang Peking University Humanities Library Fund will be used for the publication of humanities academic achievements in the future.

On behalf of Consulate General of China in San Francisco, Mr. Luo Linquan congratulated the start-up of Florence Fang Peking University Humanities Library Fund. In his speech, he said for many years YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang has not only payed great efforts for the development of the Chinese community in the bay area, but also made an important contribution to promote China-US friendly exchanges and spread Chinese culture. He especially noted that the Overseas Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall sponsored by YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang just ushered its first anniversary and this Memorial shows the historical truth to people especially the younger generation and helps people take right attitudes towards the history of the Second World War.

Mr. Luo Linquan pointed out that as a good friend of Consulate General of China in San Francisco, YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang has been supported the work of the Consulate General for a long time,  to which he expressed sincere gratitude. When it comes to YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang long-term throwing herself into charity work and public service, he said with a smile, her engagement in philanthropy also make her endure youth. He believes the Florence Fang Peking University Humanities Library Fund will promote the further development of Peking university humanity science.

YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang said she was born in China, developed her career in the United States, and witnessed the deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and the US. She said that with the development of science and technology, the world is becoming smaller, the interdependence between countries is also growing. Therefore, the sharing and understanding of humanities also becomes more and more important.

YRIC Honorary President Mrs. Florence Fang said she felt honored that Peking University selected her to establish Florence Fang Peking University Humanities Library Fund. But she stressed that the realization of the development goals of humanity science need everyone to participate.
